Mata Ortiz Pottery

Until the end of September you can see the work of SunQueen Ginsberg on ring #1 of the Yeoluon. She makes Mata Ortiz Pottery in the form of finely textured and sculpted single-prim objects.

You can read more about Mata Ortiz Pottery in RL.

With an olla as their canvas, the potters of Mata Ortiz have imprinted in them not only re-creations of ancestral symbols, but they have searched within their own spirit and creativity and have been able to conceive a unique artistic language, creative and original. They have passed through the imitation of pre-Hispanic ceramics, and have moved on to a refined creation of contemporary art.

It is considered to be art and not crafts because their work is not routinely elaborated with a repetitive, popular style. The potters of Mata Ortiz combine both intellectual and aesthetic elements. Each artist has freely looked for his or her own form of expression, his or her own language through which to communicate.

SunQueen Ginsberg has been building in Second Life for several years and has privately tutored numerous students. She has contributed builds to the Mexican government’s Department of Tourism Mayan project, Ruta Maya, and Ball State’s in-world campus creation, and she has done much private custom work. Her in-world store, Where Worlds Collide, a Mayan-inspired building, features low-prim, high-quality scripted Mexican and pre-Columbian builds.

Yeoluon

A new art gallery in Yeodeol!

This building is modeled after Evoluon, the famous building in Real Life (Eindhoven, Netherlands) that used to be a museum of science and technology.

The model is about 50% of Real Life size, which still leaves plenty of room for a nice exposition.

Our aim is to have varying expositions of NPIRL (Not Possible In Real Life) art in here.
